What is a Bluetooth Trigger?
A Bluetooth trigger is a small remote commonly used with selfie sticks. You can easily find one on Amazon for under $5. These triggers simulate the volume up or volume down button press on your device, which the Curator Live app can detect to advance through the photo booth experience.
How to Connect the Bluetooth Trigger
Turn on your Bluetooth trigger.
Open your iPad or iPhone Settings.
Go to Bluetooth and pair your device with the trigger (it may appear as “AB Shutter” or similar).
Once connected, your trigger is ready to use with Curator Live.
Enabling Bluetooth Trigger in Curator Live
Open the Curator Live app.
Navigate to Page 3 in your event setup.*If this option is not available to you then it may be due to your account permissions. Please reach out to support.
Scroll to the bottom and enable the option: “Enable Bluetooth Trigger”.
That’s it! The app will now listen for a volume up or down command.
How It Works
When the Bluetooth trigger is pressed, it sends a volume up/down signal.
The Curator Live app detects that signal and advances to the next screen in the photo experience.
If your event is set to immediately take a photo or start a countdown, the photo session will begin.
If your flow includes options like selecting a digital prop, filter, or template, the guest will first make a selection, and then press the trigger again to continue.
This system allows for a smooth, contactless operation—perfect for permanent installs, self-serve booths, or social distancing requirements.
💡 Note: This article focuses on Bluetooth triggers for iPad or iPhone use. If you’re looking for DSLR Bluetooth trigger that would be any trigger that can trigger your specific camera.
