šŸ–Øļø How AirPrint Works with Curator Live

Using AirPrint, Apple’s wireless printing feature. Send photos from Curator to supported printers-natively or via added compatibility

Updated yesterday

šŸ“± What Is AirPrint?

AirPrint is a built-in Apple feature that allows iOS and iPadOS devices to print directly to compatible printers—no drivers or cables needed. Curator Live leverages this technology to print photos seamlessly from the iPad to your photo booth printer.

Table of Contents:

šŸ”Œ Hardware Options for AirPrint

Many dye-sublimation photo printers aren’t AirPrint-enabled by default, but you can make them compatible using these hardware devices:

  • WCM Plus (DNP)
Converts supported DNP printers into AirPrint-ready devices.

  • AirCastPro
Transforms traditional photo booth printers into AirPrint printers and is designed specifically for event workflows.

  • Printio
Similar to others and fast print times.

šŸ’” These devices act as wireless print servers that the iPad connects to directly or via a shared Wi-Fi network.

šŸ’» Software Options for AirPrint

Prefer a software solution? These options run on your Mac or PC to make nearly any printer AirPrint-capable:

  5. Pick a Print Size

    • The default is what ever you printer size you added but you can set up to 8 different print sizes based on your event’s layout settings. This allows you to print up to 8 different sizes in one event. Example: print a 2x6 strip and 6x4 all at one event.

🌐 Printing & Internet Access

Depending on whether your iPad has cellular, your connectivity options differ slightly:

šŸ“¶ Using a Cellular iPad

  • Stay connected to the Internet via cellular.

  • This allows both photo delivery and printing simultaneously—ideal for mobile setups.

šŸ“” Using a Wi-Fi Only iPad

  • Connect your iPad to the WCM Plus or AirCastPro’s Wi-Fi.

  • Then connect the print server (WCM/AirCastPro) to your internet router or hotspot.

  • This allows the iPad to reach both the printer and the web.
