Table of Contents:
The Photo Backup Options section gives you control over how and where your event photos and videos are stored/saved. While Curator Live automatically uploads media to your event on the website, you can also save copies to various locations depending on your needs. Let’s walk through each option and what it does.
🗂 How It Works by Default
By default, every photo or video captured in the app is added to an internal Queue System. This means that even if there’s no internet connection at the time of capture, your content is safely saved on the device and will automatically upload to the Curator Live platform once internet access is restored.
🔧 Available Photo Backup Options
These options are found in the Photo Backup Options section of the website which is located on page 6 for each event. Here’s what each one means:
✅ Camera Roll
Saves a copy of every captured photo or video to the Photos app on your iPad or iPhone. This is a great way to have a local copy accessible outside of the app.
⚠️ Note: Saving to the Camera Roll requires that the Curator Live app has Full Access to the Photos app.
To check this, go to:
Settings > Curator Live > Photos > Full Access
If this permission is not granted, photos will not be saved to the Camera Roll.
✅ Save Raw Photos
Saves a version of the photo before any overlays, filters, or effects are applied.
Note: These are not “RAW” files in the professional photography sense. This just means the original photo captured by the iPad or DSLR, unedited.
✅ Save Images to Queue (Default: On)
This setting must be ON for most use cases:
It ensures that media is saved locally before being uploaded.
Required if you're using the Gallery feature or plan to reprint, resend via text, or email a file later.
If this is turned off, the photo or video is deleted from the device as soon as it’s uploaded to the cloud — ideal for permanent installs with no need for local backup or re-access.
Save Processed Frames
This is an advanced option for specific use cases like:
Mosaics (saving each tile image)
GIF/Photo Layouts (saving each individual processed frame)
Most users will not need this unless you're building mosaics or need every image component separately.
Dropbox
If you've connected a Dropbox account on the Tools Page, you can choose to have all uploaded media also copied over to Dropbox.
Media is moved to Dropbox after it's uploaded to the Curator Live platform.
Best Practices
For mobile or temporary events, keep
Save to Queue
,Camera Roll
, andRaw Photos
turned on to ensure full local access. For permanent installs with minimal storage needs, you might turn
Save to Queue
off so everything is uploaded and cleared automatically. If using Dropbox as a backup, make sure you’ve connected your account first.
