Advanced Event Settings

Learn how to customize your Curator Live event with advanced settings, branding, sharing options, overlays, AI experiences, and more.

This guide is recommended for users who want more control over the event experience beyond the basic setup.

Before continuing, we recommend completing the Quick Start Guide first.

💡 The following steps are completed inside the Event Form after creating your event.

Event Form Step-by-Step

Step 1: Event Details

💡 This section controls your event activation dates, device settings, sharing options, and account permissions.

When Is This Event?

Defines when your event will be active.

⚠️ Per-event activations run for 3 days.

We recommend setting:

  • Start Date → Day before the event

  • End Date → Day after the event

This provides additional setup and buffer time.

Event PIN

A 4-digit PIN used to access the hidden settings menu inside the app.

What Country Is This Event In?

Choose the country where the station will be operated.

💡 If you are located in the United States, no changes are required.

Where Is This Event?

Optional venue/location field used for organizational purposes on the dashboard.

SMS Phone Number

Choose which number will send SMS messages.

  • If you connected a Twilio account (TOOLS page), you can choose your own number.

  • Otherwise, a random Curator Live number will automatically be used.

Choose iPad Orientation

Select either:

  • Portrait

  • Landscape

⚠️ Make sure your overlays and attract screens match the selected orientation.

Choose iPad Camera

Choose which camera will capture media.

💡 This can also be updated later inside the app.

Add Survey Mode (Agency Pro)

Capture additional guest data during the experience.

Sub-users

  • Grant employees limited access to your account and events.

  • Different roles provide different levels of permissions.

Vanity URL

Assign your custom event URL if enabled on your account.

Click 'Continue' when finished.


Step 2: Attract Screens (Optional)

Attract screens appear before guests begin the experience.

You can add:

  • Capture Attract Screen

  • Sharing Station Attract Screen

⚠️ Make sure the design matches your selected orientation to avoid stretching or cropping.

Step 3: Experience Screen

Choose which experience(s) guests can use during the event. Select Choose or Upload next to the experience name to assign a button to the experience.

💡 You can add up to 6 experiences, including multiple versions of the same type.

⚠️ Photo Layout

Legacy feature — not recommended

⚠️ We recommend using Single/Multi Photo instead of Photo Layout, as it may cause compatibility or performance issues and will be removed in a future update.

Experience Button Layout

Choose how experience buttons appear on screen. The preview updates automatically on the right side.

Experience Background

Choose or upload a background shown behind experience buttons.

Look Here Graphics

Displays a visual indicator showing guests where to look during countdowns.

Look Here Graphic Blink

Adds blinking animation to attract attention.

Event Wide Overlay

Apply an overlay across all selected experiences. This can be overridden later within individual experiences if needed.

⚠️ If using CustomFX, overlays should instead be added directly to the timeline.

Ready

Controls how long the “Ready?” text appears before countdown.

💡 Recommended Setting: 0

Countdown

Controls how many seconds guests have before capture begins.

⚠️ 360 booths may require adjusted timing depending on trigger setup.

Click 'Continue' when finished.


Step 4: Customize Experience

Click the down arrow beside each experience to edit its settings.

  • Photo

  • GIF

  • Boomerang

For Video, AI FX, and CustomFX experiences, refer to their dedicated setup guides.

Common Settings

Setting

Description

Name

Internal/back-end reference name. Optional.

Image Dimensions

Defines the image aspect ratio. Overlays and assets must match these dimensions to avoid stretching or cropping.

Image Mirror

Defaults to Photo Only to flip media so text and logos display correctly. If using the rear camera, change this to None.

Print

Allows guests to print photos after capture.

Do Not Use Event Wide Overlay

Disables the Event Wide Overlay for this specific experience. Recommended for layout or multi-photo experiences.

Draw on Photo

Allows guests to draw on the photo before sharing.

Green Screen

Enable when using a physical green screen. Backgrounds can be selected from Selector Assets.

GIF & Boomerang Settings

Setting

Description

Number of Frames/Duration

Controls the number of captured frames or boomerang duration.

Speed

Controls playback speed after capture.

Selector Assets

Choose which assets are available within the experience.

Static or animated backgrounds. Animated backgrounds are not recommended for layout experiences.

Overlays

Recommended for Single Photo, GIF, and Boomerang experiences.

Layouts

Recommended for multiple-photo experiences such as postcards or photo strips.

⚠️ Do not use overlays and layouts simultaneously, as overlays will appear on every layout frame.

Click 'Continue' when finished.

Choose how guests can receive and share their media.

Choose the appearance and layout of the sharing buttons.

Share Screen Background

Select or upload a background displayed behind the captured media and sharing buttons.

Print Experience

Choose which experiences will allow printing.

Printing Methods

Choose how printing will be handled.

Supported Printing Methods

  • AirPrint (WCM & AirCast Pro)

  • ⭐ Curator Wireless Print Server (Recommended)

You can also define:

  • Maximum number of prints allowed

  • Number of auto prints

Click 'Continue' when finished.


Step 6: Social Sharing

Customize the online gallery and sharing experience.

Microsite Templates

Controls how shared media appears when opened through email or SMS.

Banner

Add a custom banner to the sharing page where guests can view or download their photos.

Banner URL Link

Add the website link guests will open when they click the banner. Paste the full URL here.

Color Scheme

Choose the primary and secondary colors used throughout the sharing gallery.

Display Information

Choose whether to display the event name, date, and/or time on the sharing page.

Add optional marketing features to your gallery layout

Customize the text used in email and SMS sharing messages.

Add a Google Analytics Tracking ID or Facebook Pixel ID to track engagement and sharing activity.

Password Protect Gallery

Require a password before guests can access the public gallery.

Photo Backup Options

Save a copy of your event images to additional storage locations:

  • Dropbox

  • Camera Roll

  • Save Processed Frames: Saves individual frames from a GIF,

  • Save Raw Photos: Save unedited original captures before effects.

  • ❗Save Images to Queue: Keeps images in-app for reprint and sharing. Only turn off for permanent installs.

Click 'Finish' when completed. A success message will appear and your event will be available on the Dashboard. If you are using a per-event activation, the event will be ready for activation after setup is complete.


App Setup on Your Device(s)

The following steps are completed inside the Curator Live App on your device(s).

Step 7: Download The Event

  1. Open the Curator Live App and log in.

  2. Tap Download next to your event.

  3. Wait for assets to sync, then tap Play next to your event.

  4. Select your experience mode: Photo Booth, 360 Booth, Sharing Station, or Slideshow.

  5. To access the hidden menu during the event, double-tap the top-right corner and enter your PIN (if set in Step 1).

⚠️ If you make changes to the event later, you will need to refresh/redownload it.

Data Capture (Beta)

Available in Step 6 for Agency Pro Subscribers with Survey Mode enabled.

  1. Select the field type you want to add to your data capture form from the drop-down menu.

  2. Name your field. This is the label guests will see when entering information.

  3. Define whether the field must be completed before guests can continue.

  4. If you do not want to use a field, select the trash button to delete it.

  5. Add disclaimer text to let guests know how their data will be used or to provide additional information about your business.
